Currently there 198 public schools in Duval County that serve 128,463 students. These schools enjoy a community of students, teachers and administrators, rich in diversity and culture. However, things are not perfect. Generally, teacher turnover is high and community involvement is low. As budgets continue to be cut and tensions in the education system rise, it is the students who suffer, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
Transformation Jacksonville helps build partnerships with faith-based organization to adopt local schools. We envision, network, train and coach church partners to build strong, sustainable relationships to support education through community involvement.
So, let’s unite and love our schools to life, sweet friends! We can accomplish much more together than we can apart.
Our goal is for EVERY school to have at least one loving church partner that's committed to the well-being of their students, staff, and families with no strings attached.
We truly believe that if we want to reach our communities, we have to be Good News before someone will listen to Good News. We’re meant to be the hands and feet of Christ where we live, lear, work and play.
Across the First Coast, the door is wide open for churches to walk in and make a difference in the lives of the children in their communities by partnering with their local public schools.
At the end of the day, we believe that churches should serve and support public schools, because despite their best efforts, the people educating our children cannot do it alone. And more than anything—kids matter.
This breakfast is an opportunity for pastors to connect with principals in their local school to begin building relationships. You will be invited to plan and coordinate serving projects at the local school. You will learn from the school, not only what they need, but what they have to offer the community. Partner with them to make the community stronger.
